Did you know we’re holding our first sales event soon? In just over a month—Thursday, November 9th—our Sales Principal Consultant Sophie McKenna will be hosting The Sales Social: The Startup Edition in Melbourne!

We spoke to Sophie McKenna to find out what you can expect from the first of many events in this space and what she hopes to bring to the sales community.

“The aim of The Sales Social: The Startup Edition is to benefit the sales community in Melbourne by helping to improve, innovate and inspire sales teams, organisations, and individuals’ sales careers,” she says.

“I want to bring sales professionals in Melbourne together and create a safe and inclusive networking space.”

“My hope is that people make new connections and learn something valuable—and to have a good time, of course! I’m all for bringing fun and energy into the sales space, and if people have a great time while also learning something valuable, then that’s a win for me,” she says.

So, how did The Sales Social: The Startup Edition come about?

“A lot of the JDP crew were regularly going to Tech, IT, and Marketing meetups in Melbourne, and I tried finding one for sales, and I couldn’t see much there. At the time I was looking for a sales meetup back in March and April 2023, and there wasn’t any event available that I could find. So, I thought, well, why don’t I take it upon myself to create my own event? And that’s how The Sales Social came about,” Sophie McKenna says.

Who will the speakers on the panel be?

“We have three amazing speakers confirmed on the panel: Tim Cincotta, Jynese Bernard and Rob Cassidy. All three of these individuals have had instrumental success in the sales space, with a specific focus on GTM strategy and startups.”

With Tim currently the Head of Commercial Sales at Hello Coach, Jynese the APJ Sales Leader at PagerDuty, as well as an Entrepreneur at Antler, and Rob Cassidy as the Head of Sales at Circle In, guests will no doubt gain valuable sales insights on the night.

And what topics will be covered?

  • Growing a base from zero
  • Sales leadership
  • Building rapport
  • Hiring for success in sales and more!

“I want this event to be a place where people can share and learn specific sales-related topics and implement these new ideas and learnings into their careers, sales teams, and organisations.”

“The panel will be discussing these topics in depth and sharing specific insights and takeaways,” says Sophie McKenna.

At the event, guests will also be able to network with people in the industry, and after each topic is discussed, there will be time for a Q&A with all three panellists!

Don’t miss out on the first instalment of The Sales Social: The Startup Edition, beginning at 5:30pm on Thursday, November 9th! Location TBC—get your Eventbrite tickets before they’re gone!
