Yes, you can write your pros and cons list, develop a well thought out masterplan and even blast your wall with sticky notes.. but there's no dancing around the fact that a simple change of mindset could be the trigger you need to get the ball rolling.

The thought of designing your work life/career path can be an anxiety inducing nightmare (trust me, I know) but it's a necessary step to attaining long term health and happiness.

If you're a bit spontaneous and not much of a planner (like me), you will know how hard it can be to organise and structure your life, work and relationships. This was definitely an aspect of my life I continually made excuses for.

The reality is, it's easy to coast through your career with your eyes shut, follow tradition and hope for the best.. but is that really what you want?

Throughout my short stint at Just Digital People, I have noticed that a large majority of happy and successful candidates have done their due diligence and have put time and effort into designing their career.

How do they do this?

By becoming aware of their strengths and weaknesses and actively seeking out new opportunities to learn and diversify themselves.

Being passionately curious - trying new things and meeting new people. A way to get started could simply be walking a different way home.

Knowing it's a process - by focusing on the process rather than the outcome it gives you the ability to learn something from every possible situation.. good, bad or otherwise.
