Position Summary
As a Java engineer you will be joining a digital transformation initiative that spans the entire tech and data business. New challenges will lurk around every corner and you’ll be in the company of a highly skilled team solving problems collaboratively. You’re a full stack dev and equally comfortable designing and building scalable, resilient, cloud native RESTful microservices as you are building front-end SPAs with JavaScript and React.js.
  
Responsibilities
Specific tasks pertinent to this role can be broken down into: 

• Designing, coding and testing Java based applications
• Reasoning about the scalability and reliability of solutions
• Preparing and maintaining systems documentation
• Monitoring, analysing and troubleshooting services
• Supporting release processes
• Maintaining legacy applications  

Requirements/Skills
To be successful in this role the key competencies required include: 

• Excellent Java, Spring Boot, Javascript and React.js experience
• Knowledge of SQL and database technologies
• Experience in building RESTful microservices and SPA frontends with JavaScript and React.js
• Excellent working knowledge of TDD
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk and AppDynamics
• Understanding of cloud native services and micro-services patterns
• Experience with deploying applications to AWS and/or GCP
• Open mind and willingness to learn new frameworks and paradigms
• Strong communications skills and ability to explain technical issues in non-technical language

Experience and Education

• 3+ years Java experience
• 3-5+ years total experience (happy to consider more for seniors)
• Formal qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline
• AWS certified developer certification (desirable)
