Probably the best project I’ve heard about this year… I met with a very down to earth and super switched on CEO last week and exciting things are looming in his business.
I am working exclusively with a well-known global business, it’s a secret who they are – for now. But I would love to discuss everything when we meet. What we are looking for is a Mid-Level Java Engineer to join their Melbourne team.
Based in the CBD in some pretty cool offices, you’ll be working with a team comprised of BA’s, PM’s, UX, Producers and so on. The initial project will involve working alongside an iOS Developer to build out this streaming style application – very much greenfield and pretty awesome.
The most important part of this application is scalability, it needs to scale well and not fall over as they are expecting a large number of visits from the get go. Ideally you will have experience in building out large scale applications using Java and AWS.
This is a no ego zone, we want to build a team of collaborative and talented engineers but who will listen and take on advice without arrogance etc… basically don’t be a d*ck.
The role is permanent, with the nature of this business they have a large array of incoming projects constantly, so once this has been built. You’ll get a new fresh project to work on.

Skills Required:
- Experience in developing large, robust and highly scalable applications
- Strong skills with core Java 7 and 8
- JUnit, TDD and general unit testing concepts
- Solid experience with Java-based MVC framework, ideally Spring
- Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP web services
- Proven history of developing and maintaining high quality software products
- Cloud hosting experience, ideally AWS or Google Cloud
