Just Digital People are currently partnering with a fantastic business in Melbourne’s CBD. This company provide a SaaS platform within the Data space which empowers other businesses to utilise 3rd party data solutions – which in turn, allows better decisions across the some of the best Australian businesses.
They have a range of cool products which some of Australia and New Zealand’s financial powerhouses use to innovate their offering.
What is the job?
My client is looking for a Director of Engineering to join their team and help lead the technology team in APAC for existing and new clients on large projects for large financial institutions. This role reports into the Chief Technology Officer, you will be tasked with overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, performance, security, availability, and recoverability of the company’s set of products.
As the Director of Engineering, you will be working directly with an existing team who are based in America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia and you will also be building and adding to the existing team.
The existing tech is built on a complex modern JavaScript stack, utilising microservices & serverless engineering with Node, AWS (EC2 / ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3). So, experience in similar environments would be amazing – although not essential.
As a leader you will be flexible, approachable, and looking to truly empower your team to build excellent software. As this role is client facing you will also need an excellent manner and ability to disarm and lead conversations in a consultative approach whilst also knowing what “no” means at times.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with large Australian business so your team can deliver new and existing products
- Create a collaborative and best practice environment for your team, with a consumer first mindset
- Mentor your fellow members of the team on any coding queries
- Liaise between the US, European and Australian office
Technical Stack:
- Full-stack development experience in Node.js, and frameworks like Express.js
- JavaScript experience across - React & Redux
- API integration
- AWS products (EC2 / ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3)
- Strong Git experience – and any side projects on Github would be awesome to show off
- Banking / Consultancy experience
- Any Relevant Certifications (Cloud, Coursera)
